Day 7
The alarm was set for 8am but I’d already had 2 alarming episodes during the night and I’m blaming that kebab.
Apocalyptic.
So, I decided to skip breakfast and Joss did the same to gain some extra sleep.
We slept in until about 10 then we got ourselves ready and packed everything up.
The hotel said they’d happily look after our bags (for free) as we were still early for our flight so we headed into town for a stroll.
I feel that I have become a lot more Austrian and that Vienna really knows me. A thought confirmed by whilst waiting to cross a road, a lorry pulled up, carrying a portaloo - so appropriate.
It had got a LOT colder.
We stopped off in a cafe and surprise surprise I had a toasted sandwich whilst Joss had a roll and croissant.
I was keen to have something plain for obvious reasons….
We wandered around a bit but as it was so cold and we didn’t really have somewhere to aim for, we decided to go back to the hotel and Joss made the management decision of ordering a taxi rather then walk to the train station.
Obviously that was good for being taken door to door, but it did mean we were there ridiculously early so we had a long time to wait before we could check in our bags.
Eventually the time to check in came and we were about 4th in the queue.
All of a sudden a woman burst past and said she needed to go first as she’d been waiting 4.5 hours and was tired.
She forgot the word, pissed.
The line just laughed and let her get on with it.
Security was a breeze and we went through passport control but count find the lounge.
Another couple also couldn’t find it and we eventually found it that the lounge was BEFORE passport control.
What a ridiculous idea.
So we had to get our passports stamped coming back in the country, use the lounge then get it stamped again to get to the plane - this is one way of filling up the passport….
So we kicked about in the lounge for a while and eventually boarded the plane.
Our treats were not over though as that woman who pushed in the queue was sat right near us.
Imagine our joy as we took off to see her close her eyes, thrash her head from side to side and shout out like she was possessed!!! It was brilliant.
She then spent the entire flight bothering the staff and as we left even shouted at the guy next to her that she was going to take her time and he had to wait - even though he hadn’t moved a muscle
What a diva
We just kept our heads down, ate our food and Joss hit the wine.
Once landed, security was pretty quick but it took aaaages for the bags to arrive.
From there we caught the Heathrow express to terminal 5 so we could experience the pod one last time.
Then the very dark and long drive home
It’s been a great time, even though now I feel like I need a holiday to get over this holiday.
